wear as usual, replacing centre armresr which has ripped would tidy the whole interior up a lot, nice black piano wood and wood XJR steering wheel. Mechanically it drives ok, there is a slight blow on exhaust, bit of a clonk from front- possibly shocks or bushes, previous owner said that the car would sometimes idle to high- has not done it in my ownership- i spoke to my friend who is a mechanic who said it sounds like the valve sticking in MAF Sensor??? As i said not doing at the moment but mentioned just in case it starts again. Invoice for a new alternator for £240 in December of last year, also an invoice for a couple of new tyres last year. Remote Locking not working- works fine on key, possibly battery?? Code needed for original Jaguar Radio Only done 114k miles info off vosa website confirms it had done around 5k miles in last 6 years. Chages gear sooo smoothly you can barely feel it.Exhaust etc seems to be fine with no blowing.Brakes work fine although the brake warning light does come on the dash so pads probably ready for a change.BodyworkAs with all old jags it does need a little TLC on the bodywork, but nothing that a few hours of elbow grease wouldnt sort out. Couple of the arches have a few bubbles.Front drivers arch has corroded near the front bumper. Could be repaired, or easily replaced with a new bolt on wing. Front/side quarter of the bumper skirt was damaged (just fibreglass damage) on a low kirb. Needs fibreglass repair. (broken off bit off the bumper is in the boot). InteriorInterior is in lovely condition, everything works as it should. research the issues that Jaguar had with their Nikasil cylinder linings. Engines produced between 1998 and 2000 were affected by this, and it`s a serious problem if it happens to yours. The engine will not be able to be repaired - a replacement engine is required. This is the reason that you will find many cars of this age for sale for surprisingly low prices. This is not an issue that you will have to worry about with this car. It previously suffered from the Nikasil problems, and due to this had a replacement engine fitted by Jaguar under warranty. Jaguar would only replace the engine under warranty if the car had a complete service history from a Jaguar main dealer. I have heard from Jaguar owners that if you were to pay to have the work carried out it would cost approxmately £8,000. The good news is that the new engine is of the type with steel liners. This can be proven by checking the engine number (if the engine number has six digits at the end it is of the Nikasil liner type and so beware! If it has five digits at the end it has steel liners). More good news is that the replacement engine is of the type fitted to the newer model XJRs, as the old engine was no longer being produced when the work was carried out. This means that the issues which affected the older engines have been resolved - i.e. the problems with the water pumps and timing chain tensioners. The power was increased from 370 to 400 BHP, and the fuel economy was also improved. This new engine has done less than 17,000 miles. I apologise to anyone who has been bored stiff by so many details about the engine, but I really believe that having this new engine fitted makes this car stand out head and shoulders above the rest for sale at the moment. It is the reason that I bought this one after looking for an XJR for a long time. The car has all the usual electrics that you would expect (a/c, electric seats, electric mirrors, automatic headlights, and so on). They all work exactly as they should. The only thing that I have not tried out has been the factory fitted car phone. The bodywork is generally in a very good condition. There are of course a couple of very small bad points though. These are not very serious though, and although I haven`t been troubled by them I had a quote of £200 to rectify them. This would take the bodywork up to an excellent condition. I am currently located in South Shields. I would be willing to deliver the car to anywhere on the UK mainland provided reasonable travel costs are met. I am only selling the car as I rarely use it. I have done less than 4,000 miles in the last year. The rest of the time it`s been parked up in my garage. I can`t justify keeping two cars on the road at once. a very recent LPG conversion by Optimus Motors LPG Specialists of Leicester. The system is a BRC Multipoint with the correct large yellow injectors needed on more powerful engines - the tank is in the spare wheel well. The system imperceptibly switches to LPG once there is some heat in the coolant - manual override is available in the form of a button on the display as detailed in the photo. | This particular XJR has all but a few of the extras that were available new, those being the sunroof and heated seats. The rest are there, fully electric seats (including the headrests), electric steering column (with automatic retract function), mirrors (including powerfold), all with memory, and programmable to each of the keys. | Engine: | The 4.0 supercharged AJ-V8 @ 370bhp provides massive power and will take care of most other cars on the road; what is most surprising is it doesn`t even need to kickdown to produce a real shove in the back, the push comes at any RPM thanks to the supercharger, whilst producing a fantastic noise. As is evident from its service history, it has also been meticulously maintained. | Exterior condition: | Paintwork is unmarked with no rust, and when polished comes up to an incredible finish. The wheels are also in extremely good condition, with only a few minor scuffs. Offside rear light as detailed in photos is cracked, I believe these are available on eBay for around £25 - £30. For a 14 year old car it looks amazing. | Interior condition: | The driver`s seat has worn through on the bolster, a common problem with the leather on these cars. Other than that, the interior is in exceptional condition and very clean. The back seats look like they haven`t been sat on. There are no faults and the car has always been well looked after and well serviced. The private plate `J30 XME` (reads `Box Me`) is included with the sale. Engine, Gearbox, Clutch & Transmission The engine runs perfectly with no abnormal noises, smells, smokes or leaks. It pulls smoothly, quietly and very quickly during spirited driving. The gearbox and transmission both work perfectly and there are no knocks, judders or any other problems. Bodywork & Chassis The bodywork is in better condition than average for its age though has two small blemishes that would benefit from repair. The chassis is solid, with only very minor rust underneath. This year`s MOT tester told me that he thought my car was in `incredible` condition for its age. Interior The interior is in superb condition with no wear marks or soiling to the leather or carpets. Electrics The electrics all function correctly and there are no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. I have bought a boat and now need a 4x4 to launch and recover it so something has to give and the Jag has to go. | I have owned the car since December 2009 and loved every single drive out in it, as you can tell from some of the photos it is a second car for special occasions and the van in the background is for everyday use. | These cars are truly amazing one of the last models produced my Jaguar Cars ltd. before being taken over, the drive is quiet and refined, however when you put your foot down the Supercharged V8 roars into life and gives comparable acceleration to a Ferrari 348 but for a fraction of the price!!! | The practicality of four usable adult seats with a large boot combined with supercar performance make this one of the best value performance cars on the market and the XJR was ranked as What Cars best buy supercar for under £5k a couple of years ago with classic car insurance making this a really affordable option. | It took me a long time to find this car as there is a lot to learn when looking for one but the search has paid off. This is a totally genuine standard car and has never been modified in any way with ECU remaps or induction kits, it has been loved by every owner and for the first ten years done a respectable 10,000 miles each year so was in daily use. Since I bought the car it has entered what I refer to as club life and been taken to various car shows all over the country although with a now much lower annual mileage of just over 3,000 miles per year. The car has covered a respectable 107k miles but drives like a dream and is so quiet however in keeping with the mileage there are a few marks and scuffs, and some wear on the drivers leather seat plus a little corrosion starting at the back of the front wheel arches. Top speed electronically limited to 155mph. But this car is equally at home being the sophisticated cruise machine, it is very very quiet and a real smooth ride thanks to the air suspension. ABS and ESP (stability control) functions along with a sport button for the transmission enable you to select which mode you wish to drive. Mileage is admittedly on the high side at 136,800 miles, but most of this has been conducted on the motorway. The story I was told is that the first owner was a stock broker in London who lived in Cardiff. The car spent its time back and forth along the M4. I have many reciepts and old MOT certificates and was able to put together a graph of its mileage accumulation rate (see last photo). Sad I know, but it was to prove the point. As you can see the first 81,000 miles were covered in just 21 months of use! The remaining mileage was at a pretty steady 9,000 miles / year, which is actually under-average mileage rate. Its not mileage which is harmful to a cars durability, its the way in which those miles are accumulated. And motorways are the least stressful on a cars components (engine fully warm, steady speed, light load, no heavy side loads on the tyres / hubs, no big inputs into the suspension). This is also reflected in the reciepts I have for work done, it is mostly tyres and brakes. The engine is the 4.2 litre supercharged V8. It is NOT the engine which had the Nickasil bore issues or the timing chain tensioner issues. It is smooth, refined and has that great V8 burble when you squeeze the pedal. Transmission is the 6 speed ZF unit which makes the pedal feel very `connected` to the car, none of the elastic band type feeling you get with the older 5 speed trans. Kickdown and sport work great. There is NO oscillation in engine speed when at a steady road speed (which would indicate a torque convertor problem). The car has full service history up to 122,000 miles (mostly from Jag Main Dealers). So effectively it has missed the last service point. I changed the engine oil at 135,500 miles and put Mobil 1 5W-30 into it. The oil which came out was not full of crud or anything like that. The filter was `clean` (no visible metallic particles). When you look into the oil filler on the valve cover there are no signs of coking or sludge accumulation. I changed the air filter at the same time. Tyres are in good condition with plenty of meat left on them. I have had the car for almost 12 months. I am only selling because my wife wants to get a caravan so we need a tow car and we cant have both that, a caravan and the Jag... I spent a lot of time finding this car as I planned on keeping it much longer than I have. I have done less than 2000 miles since I bought it, mostly at weekends and it has not been thrashed. The interior is in immaculate condition, no rips or scuffs to the seats. Only one small area of imperfection on the drivers door card (see below). OK, so there must be some bad points? Well, only a few actually and Im being picky here, because thats what Im like:*Both rear wings have a small dent close to the rear light clusters. Paint is not cracked at all and you only notice it if the light catches it - see picture of OSR dent (circled). NSR dent is even smaller.*Near side rear wheel arch has small scratch / dent - looks like someone caught it with a shopping trolley...*Some minor scuffs to the front wheel rims. These have been repaired to a degree, but theyre not absolutely perfect (a good wheel man could sort them no problem).*The parking sensors have a fault (3 sec continuous beep when you first select a gear to indicate they are not functioning). I have done the listening test and noted that 2 were not `ticking` which indicates a duff sensor. These are about 20 quid each but would take a couple of hours to fit, so I havent done anything about it as I dont have a lot of spare time.*The supercharger belt squeaks slightly when cold. This is a very common fault on these cars and was fixed by revising the belt at 2007 MY. There is a retrofit kit to solve it on these cars - I have that kit (belt, tensioner, idler and brackets), from the Jag dealer, but again havent had time to fit it. This cost nearly £200 and will come with the car.*The offside, outside headlamp washer jet is missing (scrapyard to get a replacement).*Some minor stone chips to the front end.*As mentioned above, the drivers door card has some minor imperfections - looks like a lady with french nails has been using the car as the leather is slightly scuffed around the door grab handle, but its hardly noticable (see pic in extras at bottom).*These cars have a reputation for corrosion on the aluminium body. Some people are obsessed with it... But for no good reason. This car has two small areas, classic places. Front edge of the boot and bottom front corner of door (rear passenger side). Aluminium corrosion isnt like steel corrosion - it wont spread indefinately and `eat` the car! It is present because the anti-corrosion protection was not applied perfectly. It only spreads to the point where the protection is good again - and I guarantee that the couple of spots on this car have not got any worse since I have had it. See photo of the boot edge in the main pics. Pic of rear door is in the extra pics at the bottom. AS YOU CAN SEE AREA IS VERY SMALL AND NO WORSE NOW THAN WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR. So, not many faults and a lot right about the car. Mileage shouldnt be a worry as pointed out. Road tax is £270 year and insurance is good if you go to a specialist type of broker (these are classed as future classic or modern classic cars). I use Footman James who were very helpful. Fuel economy isnt as bad as you might imagine. Our weekend use nets around 25MPG (mostly town with a bit of motorway). On a steady run at 70mph it will return 32MPG. As I said I need to sell the car so we can get a caravan. It will break my heart but thats what wives do... :) So the price is £7295 or a close offer. For the right deal I will also get a fresh MOT on the car. I will pass on all the reciepts etc that I have plus copies of workshop manuals that I have acquired. There are two genuine Jaguar keys with the car and the original handbook and service book. Any trial welcome but please no tyre kickers.
